Google games: hidden games and how to play them

The dinosaur game, Snake, tic-tac-toe, solitaire, minesweeper, Pac-Man and playable doodles: Polarzinho shows how to open each of Google’s hidden games.

Google hides several games inside its own search and Chrome: search the right name and the game opens right there, with nothing to install. As a curious panda, I tested every one I know.

Here is how to play Google’s hidden games, from the dinosaur game to Pac-Man, plus a few similar games for when you want something a little different.

Play Solitaire Links Play Gridspark Play Pinloop

Google dinosaur game

The most famous one. It shows up in Chrome when your internet drops, but you can open it anytime: type chrome://dino in the address bar. Jump the cacti with the space bar and duck the pterodactyls with the down arrow.

Google Snake

Search "snake game" on Google and press Play. The snake moves around the field, eats fruit and grows. Do not hit the wall or your own tail.

Google tic-tac-toe

Search "tic tac toe" and the board appears in search. Play against the computer at different difficulty levels, or against another person on the same device.

Google solitaire

Search "solitaire" and play classic solitaire right on the page, on easy or hard.

If you like solitaire and words, Polar Games’ Solitaire Links combines both: the cards are words and each one goes to the right category.

PolarzinhoI have patience. With words, I am practically a monk.

Solitaire Links, in Portuguese: solitaire where the cards are words.

Google minesweeper

Search "minesweeper" and play in search. The numbers show how many mines touch each square. Flag the mines and open the rest.

Google Pac-Man

In 2010 Google celebrated Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary with a playable doodle. Search "pac-man" and it comes back to play: eat the dots and run from the ghosts.

Playable Google Doodles

Doodles are the special versions of the Google logo. Some became real games and are kept in Google’s doodle archive:

  • Magic Cat Academy (2016): a witch kitten draws symbols to chase off ghosts, for Halloween.
  • Doodle Champion Island Games (2021): an adventure game with many sports, made for the Olympics.
  • Pac-Man (2010): the classic maze, with the Google name drawn in it.

Similar games to play in your browser

Like quick games with nothing to install? Three Polar Games titles follow the same idea:

Gridspark: blocks to place

Place colorful blocks, clear rows and columns and charge ZAP to make room. Good for minesweeper and logic game fans.
