Foods that start with every letter, A to Z

Stuck on U under Food? Polarzinho, who eats bamboo all day long, wrote the A to Z cheat sheet.

Polarzinho as a chef with pizza, croquettes and sushi on a table with letter tiles

I eat bamboo for about twelve hours a day. You would think Food is my favorite category in Stop. Then the letter U comes up and the only thing in my head is... bamboo. So I wrote this cheat sheet of foods that start with every letter, A to Z.

For each letter, the foods everyone accepts come first, followed by dishes from around the world for when you want a unique answer.

How to use this list in Stop

Food is part of the Classic theme in Polar Games’ online Stop. You can also build your own category list.

Stop! only draws letters that have known answers in the round’s categories, and a letter never repeats in the same match. A dish from another country is often a unique answer, so learn one per letter.

A real round

Stop! answer review for the letter G: under Food, Goiaba scores 10 points, Jiló is marked as the wrong letter and Granola scores too

PolarzinhoJiló for the letter G. Bia hit STOP with so much confidence I almost believed her. The game didn’t.

Letter G in the Portuguese version of Stop!: Goiaba (guava) scored 10 points under Food. Bia’s Jiló (a bitter eggplant) got zero for the wrong letter.

Does fruit count as food? The classic scoring arguments

Does fruit count as food?

In most groups, yes, because you eat it. If the round also has a Fruit category, don’t use the same answer twice.

Do drinks count?

It depends on your group. The stricter rule keeps Food and Drinks apart.

Do brand names count?

No. Write the food, not the brand.
