Word games are my weak spot. Pandas have big paws, but a sharp vocabulary. Polar Games has five online word games, all in your browser, nothing to install, in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Each one is a different kind: a word guessing game, a spell-from-clues game, a word association game, a trivia quiz and Stop to play with friends. Below I explain each one and who it is for.

Lumora: a word guessing game with clues

In Lumora you follow clues and complete words while exploring floating islands with Luma and her magical friends. Every word you find is saved in the Lumário, and there are new challenges every day.

Letter River: spell the answer from a clue

You read a clue and drag across the letters on the board to spell the answer, in any direction. Every letter belongs to one word only, so each correct answer clears the way for the next. If you like word search, the gesture will feel familiar, but here the words come from clues.

PolarzinhoI got one letter wrong and the game just undid the last one. No scolding, no drama. I wish life worked like that.

Solitaire Links: a word association game

Classic solitaire with words instead of numbers. Gold cards are categories, and every word has to go to the right group. There are twelve worlds with Linky the octopus, and every action spends one of the level’s moves, so think ahead.

PolarzinhoI put Pudding under Fruits. The octopus looked at me with pity. Pudding is not a fruit. I know that now.
